Hands-on Floral Design Class

Working with fresh and dried floral materials – create a unique design in a fresh pumpkin. We will create this table top design featuring pillowing, tufting, and color theory education. Please bring a floral clipper/shears, pumpkin carving knife (if possible), and scoop to clean out your pumpkin. Aprons to wear and all design materials will be provided.

Thanksgiving Topiaries

Why wait to create a unique custom table top design for your Thanksgiving table. Using fruits, florals and other dried materials, we’ll create a topiary tree festive for the Thanksgiving season. Pave and Biedermeier techniques will be explored in this session. We won’t be short on texture in this workshop. Please bring a floral clipper/shears and scissors. Aprons to wear and all design materials will be provided.

Holiday Florals & Food

'Tis the season to join friends for a Holiday Table & Treats afternoon with Lake Forest Flowers' Eileen Weber, AAF and 2 time James Beard Award winner Chef Gale Gand. You'll start with ideas to set the perfect holiday tablescape and design your own petite floral arrangement in rich, holiday reds and winter greens. Then you will sit and enjoy a festive holiday beverage and sample dessert while you watch Chef Gand demo one of her favorite holiday dessert recipes. This is sure to be inspirational for all who attend! *Please bring a pruner or floral clipper to use, bag and small box (6"x6") to take your arrangement home.

Gale Gand is a nationally acclaimed pastry chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, teacher and television personality. She has received two James Beard Awards, and was inducted into the Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame.  She co-founded and partner in the renowned Chicago restaurant TRU, which has 2 stars from the Michelin Guide.

For 8 years Gale was the host of Sweet Dreams, Food Network’s first program devoted to desserts. Gale continues to appear regularly on television, and has appeared on Top Chef, Iron Chef, Oprah, Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray show, and many others. Gale’s first national television appearance was with Julia Child, in the 1995 PBS series Baking With Julia. Gale is the author of 8 cookbooks, including her latest, Gale Gand’s Lunch!

Gale teaches cooking and baking at cooking schools across the country and the United Kingdom, as well as online at Craftsy.com. Gale can often be seen cooking at food and wine festivals, on cruises, and at charity events around the world. She also recently developed a Honey Sriracha flavored jerky for Think Jerky. Her artisanal soda pop, Gale Gand’s Root Beer, has been sold nationally for nearly 20 years.

Gale began her career as a musician, then became a silversmith, with a BFA  in metalsmithing from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She later attended the La Varenne cooking school in Paris. A wife and mother of three, in her spare time, Gale paints, and has recently taken up the ukulele.
