Students will learn the fundamentals of traditional Japanese Karate in a positive and focused environment. Each athlete will develop the basic skills of self-defense, situational awareness and multi-sport core skills. The Continuing/Intermediate Karate class will focus on developing more advanced Karate, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu skills in conjunction with an introduction to elite level Kumite (sparring) as based on the precepts of the U.S. Olympic Committee Training Center.
The Intermediate Karate Program (Samurai) will expand each student’s fundamentals of Traditional Japanese Karate as well as the basics of Japanese Judo (throwing and falling).Students will begin to learn the fundamentals of Kumite (sparring) and have an opportunity to participate in regional competitions.

Ages 5 to 8
This class gets kids moving and excited about exercise. Participants will learn the fundamentals of improving flexibility, stretching, body positioning, developing core-strength, improving balance, cool-down techniques. Concepts as they relate to exercising, jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. Boys and girls will participate in fitness games involving sprints, relays, long-distance walking, hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track field events. Participants will have a fun-filled track and field meet on the last day of class.

Archery participation will learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills in an extremely safe environment. They will learn an excellent, nationally recognized beginner’s 9-step to the 10 ring progression which was created by the Coaches Development Committee of the National Archery Association. Both technique and games will be a part of this class. Blunt tipped arrows, bows, and targets are provided.
