The Kenilworth Park District is announcing that playgrounds located at the south end of Townley Field (Choo-Choo Park) and the playground located to the north of Pee-Wee Baseball field will be re-opened on Saturday, June 27th. This is due to the language contained in the revised Executive Order from the Governor’s office.
Park District staff will be visiting both playgrounds removing any remaining signage, caution tape, and unchaining swings throughout the day on Saturday, June 27. While we are excited to put our playgrounds back in service for the community, we strongly encourage the use of all safety precautions including the wearing of face coverings when in close proximity to people outside of your household. Also, please note that the Park District will not be sanitizing outdoor playground equipment. Outdoor drinking fountains will remain out of service for the foreseeable future.
With Phase 4 beginning on Friday, June 26, The Kenilworth Assembly Hall will re-open to allow for gatherings of 50 people or less. The Assembly Hall will be sanitized before and after each use. Additionally, face coverings will be required while indoors. Gatherings outside the Assembly Hall will be encouraged.
We will continuously evaluate the situation and inform the community of any decisions made. We recognize the seriousness of the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in our community. We urge all residents to follow the Center for Disease Control’s tips by staying home if sick; avoiding close contact with people who are sick; covering coughs and sneezes; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth; and washing hands with soap and water.
