What is Cubs Care?  Cubs Care is an after school care program where children will have the opportunity to do e-learning, finish homework, eat a lunch and snack, play games, stretch their muscles on the playground and have a great time with their friends.  The instructor will facilitate and help with e-learning and will plan fun activities for your child to enjoy every day, all at the safe environment of Joseph Sears School.

It’s time to look for more cost-efficient alternatives to baby sitters and Au Pair’s. The Kenilworth Park District and Joseph Sears School have you covered! Sign your child up for Cubs Care, where your child will have the opportunity to do e-learning, finish homework, eat lunch and a snack, play games, stretch their muscles on the playground and have a great time with their friends.  Experience a new fun activity every day at the safe environment of the Joseph Sears School.

No School Days

We can unfortunately not offer Cubs Care when school is not in session.

  • October 12th (Columbus Day)

  • November 3rd (Election Day)

General Information about what Cubs Care

Cubs Care will be available to all children in Kindergarten.

Children must be registered for the entire session and for the full day – unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate choosing specific days of the week to attend or arrange early pick-ups.

Each grade will be grouped in a “bubble”.

Each bubble will be limited to 10 children with 1 teacher.

We will require a minimum of 6 participants per Grade Level to offer Cubs Care for that specific Group.

These bubbles will NOT interact and will be assigned to a designated classroom or space which will be used for the entire session.

There will be opportunities for each bubble to have outside play time.

The daily schedule would have the teacher helping the children with their e-learning from 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm.

After 3:30 pm, each teacher will have their individual plans and activities until 5:30 pm.

Cubs Care will align with the school and follow the same procedure for dismissal.

Cubs Care will not be available during days when school is not in session.

Parents are responsible for sending their child to school with a packed lunch, drink and a snack everyday.

Park District Staff will follow the same COVID-19 guidelines as the school has for a student or teacher testing positive.

Planning a Vacation or Traveling Outside of Illinois?

The Kenilworth Park District would like your help minimizing the spread of COVID in our community. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is working with state and local public health partners to implement after-travel health precautions. As of 7/26/20, the following states have emerged as an area with widespread or ongoing community spread: AZ, FL, LA, SC, TX, GA, MS, ID, AL, NV, TN, CA, AR, UT, NC, IA, and OK. The states and regions under this travel advisory will be updated by IDPH on a regular basis.

It is recommended that Park District patrons who have traveled to one of these locations wait 14 days before returning to Park District programs to ensure COVID is not spread in our community.

Please visit the IDPH’s website for updated information about COVID and the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) website for suggestions on traveling within the United States.
