Just as sports strengthen the body, coding strengthens the mind.
Parents enroll their children in activities like swimming, basketball,
soccer, or music not because they expect every child to become a
professional athlete or musician, but because these activities build
discipline, confidence, perseverance, and lifelong skills. Coding does the same for the brain by developing logical reasoning, critical thinking, creativity, focus, and problem-solving abilities.
In today’s AI-driven world, children can get answers with the click of
a button. While artificial intelligence is an incredible tool, the most
valuable skill a child can develop is the ability to think independently— to ask meaningful questions, analyze information, evaluate solutions, and create original ideas. These are the skills that will prepare students not only for future careers but for success in school and everyday life.
Using Scratch, students create their own games, animations, and
interactive stories while learning fundamental programming concepts
such as sequences, loops, variables, events, and conditionals. Every
project challenges students to think logically, break complex problems into manageable steps, test different solutions, debug their programs, and improve their work through persistence and creativity.
Scratch is more than a beginner programming language—it provides
a strong foundation in computational thinking and prepares students
for text-based programming languages such as Python and more
advanced computer science concepts.
This class is about much more than learning to code. It develops
confidence, resilience, creativity, and a growth mindset while
encouraging students to become creators rather than simply consumers of technology. Students leave each class with exciting projects they have built themselves and stronger thinking skills that extend far beyond the computer.

About the Instructor
The class is taught by an experienced educator with a university
degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. For the past seven years, the instructor has led coding classes at The Little Coders in Glenview, teaching Scratch, Python, algorithms, and computational thinking.
With many years of experience teaching mathematics, computer
science, and coding, the instructor’s goal is not simply to teach
programming, but to help students become confident thinkers who are prepared for an AI-driven future.

No previous coding experience is required.
Just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn!
