Maggi Park

Maggi Park was originally named South Park. For decades the park was nothing more than an open green space that sat alongside a busy intersection. As the population of the village grew, there was greater need for recreational spaces beyond Townley Field. The Beautification Committee underwent an effort to turn the grassy lawn into an inviting passive park, where both active recreation and quiet reflection would be welcomed in a diversity of landscapes. The large central meadow is separated from the bustle of Green Bay Road with carefully clustered plantings of low trees and shrubs, mimicking the Prairie Style of famed landscape designer Jens Jensen. In 2014, the park was renamed Maggi Park in honor of the Lou Maggi, who served as superintendent for the Kenilworth Park District for 27 years.
