Once upon a time… your child became the author of their favorite stories! In this program, students will explore the primary elements of storytelling as they design their own unique stories focused on the characters and plot lines of stories they’ve heard before. Maybe they will dazzle us with tales of faraway lands, with amazing adventure of superheroes, or even science experiments gone very, very wrong. The possibilities for creation are endless!
What Students Will Learn:
Fundamentals of Storytelling:
There are five fundamental elements to storytelling – characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution – and your students will learn and master them all when creating their own story! Our program focuses on the importance of movie planning, basic storyboarding, and execution of these plans, which will encourage better storytelling in and out of the classroom!
Teamwork/Partner Skills:
Small groups and peer partners are key components of Snapology’s classroom approach. We emphasize positive teamwork skills in our programs and constantly work to develop healthy, respectful collaborations between students. Through group planning, sharing of materials, and fun partner experiences, students become more cognizant of how to interact with their peers in a respectful and productive way.
Presentation Skills:
Many school-age students struggle when it comes to their presentation skills in the classroom. Snapology will help your child feel more comfortable presenting in front of a class by having the child explain their unique creations to their peers in an inviting, low-stakes way. Presenting their creations will help their confidence in front of a group of people and will translate into their everyday self-assurance in the classroom.
